Tottenham Hotspur are adjusting to life without Harry Kane fairly well so far, and Heung-min Son says the club can be successful if the whole squad pull together and ‘step up’ to fill the void left behind by their former striker.

The impact Harry Kane had at Tottenham cannot be underestimated. The 30-year-old came through the club’s academy and went on to become Spurs’ all-time leading goalscorer (GOAL), but his time with the club is now at an end.

It is a new era in many ways for Spurs right now, with Ange Postecoglou beginning his tenure as manager without a world-class player who has been so synonymous with the club for years.

With Kane gone, and former club captain, Hugo Lloris, seemingly on his way out of North London, too, Heung-min Son has been named the new Spurs skipper.

Will Spurs succeed without Harry Kane?

We are now two games into the Premier League, and the future looks bright for Tottenham, despite losing their star striker. Nevertheless, Kane’s goals will be missed, but Son knows how the team can move forward without the England captain.

He told Premier League Productions (19/08/23 at 2:30 pm): “He is a fantastic player. But I think everybody has to take a step up. Football isn’t only a one-man sport. Football is about 11 or 20 players.

“So, everyone has to be ready and take a big responsibility. When you have a Harry Kane, you have a 20 or 30 goals guaranteed in your team. But I think everyone should take a big responsibility to do that [fill the void for Kane’s goals].”

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s early days, but I get the feeling Spurs will be fine without Kane. Obviously losing his goalscoring output is going to have an impact, but the squad appear to have moved on quickly and professionally, and with a new playing style being implemented, it’s almost the perfect time to have this transition period.
