Matteo Moretto has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso’s entourage met with the Tottenham hierarchy on Monday to discuss the midfielder’s future.

Even though there continues to be plenty of speculation over Lo Celso’s future ahead of Friday evening’s transfer deadline (CalcioMercato), some developments over the last couple of days have indicated that the midfielder might stay put in North London.

The 27-year-old came off the bench against Bournemouth for his first appearance of the season and he subsequently took to social media to admit his delight at wearing the Spurs shirt again.

Meanwhile, Ange Postescoglou said on Monday that the midfielder has been ‘unlucky’ not to get more game time and confirmed that he will start the Carabao Cup second-round clash against Fulham this evening (Football.London).

Lo Celso’s representatives met with Spurs

Moretto has now reported that Lo Celso’s representatives held a meeting with Spurs on Monday to discuss the player’s future.

The journalist added that while the expectation after the meeting is that the former Real Betis man will stay at N17, a late move is still on the cards.

Moretto asserted that Spurs have ruled out the possibility of loaning out Lo Celso again this summer but would consider a late sale if a sufficient offer arrives.

Fabrizio Romano reiterated this report today when he reported that Lo Celso is likely to remain at Spurs, with Ange Postecoglou happy to keep him. Only an ‘important’ bid could now change that.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham get the Brennan Johnson deal over the line and receive a late offer of £20m for Lo Celso, they will be tempted to accept it, given that the midfielder has just two years left on his contract.

However, such an offer looks unlikely to arrive as the likes of Barca, Real Betis and Napoli can seemingly only afford loan deals for the 27-year-old at the moment. So, as things stand, the Argentine looks likely to stay at Spurs.
