Sportske Novosti have claimed that there is no clarity as of yet about how long Luka Vuskovic will stay at Hajduk Split after the defender completes a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to reports over the last few days, Tottenham are soon expected to wrap up a £12m deal for Vuskovic, with the centre-back set to be loaned back to Hajduk until the summer of 2025 (Evening Standard).

Football.London explained a couple of days ago that the reason Spurs have to wait for two more years for the Croat to arrive in North London is because of a rule that came into effect following the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU.

The rule states that players from Europe can no longer get work permits to play in the UK until they turn 18.

Luka Vuskovic’s future remains unclear

Sportske Novosti have now also said that the 16-year-old centre-back is now Tottenham-bound and they also confirmed that the teenager would be loaned back to his boyhood club.

However, curiously, they add that Ange Postecoglou’s side might only decide to loan him back to Hajduk until the January transfer window.

They explain that the Lilywhites might want to loan the player out to another club in a stronger league in January to fast-forward his development.

So that means that the centre-back’s currency employers face a nervous wait until the next transfer window to see if the player’s stay at the club would be extended.

Spurs Web Opinion

I suspect Tottenham would be happy for Vuskovic to see out the season in Hajduk but there is no doubt that they would want the centre-back to take a step up to a league of higher calibre such as the Belgian Pro League or the Austrian Bundesliga next season.
