Aksam have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for Fenerbahce midfielder Ismail Yuksek in January.
Yuksek first hit the limelight during his loan spell at Bursaspor in 2021-222 and the midfielder subsequently established himself as a fixture in Fenerbahce’s midfield last season.
The 24-year-old has now also become a vital cog in the Turkish national side, having starred in their wins over Croatia and Latvia during the international break.
Askam have now stated that the defensive midfielder’s performances have caught the attention of several European clubs, including Spurs.
Spurs are looking at Fenerbahce’s Ismail Yuksek
The report states that the Lilywhites as well as their London rivals, West Ham United, are considering bringing Yuksek to the Premier League in January.
In addition, the defensive midfielder is also alleged to be on the radars of both Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen.
Yuksek is not the only Turkish international Spurs are thought to have their eye on, with Galatasaray’s Kerem Akturkoglu also rumoured to be watched by the North London club over recent weeks (Milliyet).
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt that signing a central midfielder in January would be a priority for Tottenham. Despite Hojbjerg’s impressive performance against Fulham, the writing seems to be on the wall regarding his departure.
So, Spurs will likely be closely studying the profiles of various defensive midfielders. I expect them to prioritise a move for a homegrown option such as Kalvin Phillips.
