Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the development of Uruguayan starlet, Sebastian Caceres.
Caceres left his home country to join Club America three years ago and he has since been making waves in the Mexican top flight.
His performances at club level have been difficult to ignore and he broke into the Uruguayan national set-up recently, having played 90 minutes in each of the nation’s last four World Cup qualifiers, alongside Barcelona star Ronald Araujo.
The 24-year-old was particularly impressive in the 2-0 win over Brazil last week, delivering a solid defensive display to keep out the Selecao’s attacking stars.
Spurs are looking at signing Sebastian Caceres
Football Insider claim that Caceres’ performances on the international stage have now caught the attention of several clubs ahead of the January transfer window, including Spurs.
The report states that the North London club are not alone in their admiration for the centre-back, with Manchester United, Newcastle, Fulham and West Ham also keeping tabs on the player.
Spurs Web Opinion
There is no doubt that Tottenham will enter the market for a centre-back in January, irrespective of whether Eric Dier stays or leaves.
The club showed with their recent acquisition of Alejo Veliz that they are closely watching the South American market, which is why it is not surprising to hear that Caceres is on their wishlist.
