Leroy Rosenior has admitted he had some doubts about Guglielmo Vicario following his debut against Brentford but the new Tottenham number one has proven him wrong since then.
Even though Vicario arrived at Tottenham on the back of receiving rave reviews in the Serie A thanks to his consistent showing between the sticks for Empoli, it is fair to say that not all Spurs fans were enthusiastic about his signing.
Some supporters were sceptical of whether the 27-year-old could succeed in the Premier League based on what they saw from him during the pre-season games.
However, the newcomer has hardly put a foot wrong since arriving at the club and has proven to be a great shot-stopper and reliable with the ball at his feet.

Guglielmo Vicario is winning people over at Spurs
Rosenior admitted that he has been mightily impressed by the Spurs number one, naming him in his Team of the Season so far.
The former Fulham striker told Premier League Productions: “Mine was Vicario from Tottenham, Leno played really well, I can’t dispute that, but Vicario has been terrific for Tottenham.
“The first game he played I thought this guy is a bit shaky, but since that first game he’s been terrific, he makes big saves and his distribution has been terrific.”

We have seen time and again that goalkeepers who have done well in Spain and Italy have not found it easy to settle into the Premier League and have often struggled in their first few months in the competition.
However, Vicario has looked flawless right from the off, which perhaps shows the 27-year-old’s self-confidence and his mental strength.
