The print edition of Mundo Deportivo (as relayed by Sport Witness) have suggested that Tottenham and Arsenal are two of the leading contenders for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen superstar Florian Wirtz.
Wirtz has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in German football over the last couple of years and he has set Bay Arena alight so far this season, with five goals and nine assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Tottenham’s interest in the 20-year-old came to light last week when TEAMtalk reported that the Lilywhites are one of several clubs watching the young attacker.

Spurs and Arsenal are tracking Florian Wirtz
Mundo Deportivo have now also mentioned Tottenham as one of the leading contenders for the Leverkusen star’s signature while discussing Barcelona’s pursuit of the player.
The report claims that the Catalan club’s main competition will come from Spurs and Arsenal who ‘do not lose track’ of Wirtz.
In addition to the two North London clubs, the German international is also said to be on the radars of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
However, the outlet adds that Xabi Alonso’s men are ‘unfazed’ by the interest that Wirtz is generating, with the Bundesliga leaders thought to value the versatile attacker at €80m-€100m (£70m-£87m).

Tottenham found out during their talks over Edmond Tapsoba in the summer just how difficult Leverkusen are to negotiate with. The German club are likely to demand top-dollar for Wirtz, who is likely to be out of Spurs’ price range.
