AS Roma Live have claimed that Eric Dier’s performance in the London derby against Chelsea on Monday would not have gone unnoticed at AS Roma.
Several reports over the last few weeks have claimed that Dier is Jose Mourinho’s top centre-back target at Roma during the January transfer window (Corriere dello Sport via CalcioMercato).
Last week, Roma Giallorossa even suggested that the Tottenham man would ‘gladly embrace Mourinho again’ if he gets a chance to move to the Stadio Olimpico in January.
Dier got his first minutes of the season on Monday night, coming on after Cristian Romero’s sending-off on 33 minutes and delivering a battling display.

Roma encouraged by Eric Dier’s latest performance
AS Roma Live have now stated that Dier has long been identified as ‘an ideal name’ by the Giallorossi to solve their issues in central defence.
It is explained that the Spurs star’s contract situation means that the Serie A club would be able to land him on favourable terms in January.
The report claims that those at Roma would have noted Dier’s performance against Chelsea, with the 29-year-old demonstrating that he still has ‘quite a bit to offer’.
The publication adds that the Tottenham defender sent ‘important signals’ to the Italian club with his display on Monday.

Dier is going to get a sustained run in the side after the injury to Micky van de Ven and I am sure that quite a few clubs from around the continent will be watching the 29-year-old’s performances closely, given his contract situation.
