Ahead of the weekend’s action in the Premier League, it has been revealed that Tim Robinson will be the referee for Tottenham’s game against Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs head into the clash against Wolves looking to bounce back from a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Chelsea on Monday night.
The North London side were involved in a chaotic affair which kept the match officials very busy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with two red cards, numerous VAR decisions, and five disallowed goals.
Ange Postecoglou‘s men put in a rallying display regardless, and will have a chance to return to the top of the Premier League if they beat Wolves. That is, at least until Manchester City take on Chelsea on Sunday evening.
Unfortunately, this season has been plagued by controversial refereeing and VAR issues. Managers like Mikel Arteta and Jurgen Klopp have already called for change from the PGMOL, and Postecoglou’s opponent on Saturday, Gary O’Neil, recently admitted he has given up on referees (BBC Sport).
Who is the referee for Wolves vs Spurs?
Suffice to say, all eyes will be on the match officials this weekend. Now, the Premier League has released details of those in charge of Tottenham’s visit to Molineux.
Tim Robinson will be the referee on Saturday, with Timothy Wood and Wade Smith as his assistants. Thomas Bramall will be the fourth official.
Over in VAR, Paul Tierney will be the one at the monitor, with Sian Massey-Ellis as his assistant.
Spurs Web Opinion
To be fair, I think the officials got just about every decision absolutely right on Monday. The one I would question is why Reece James didn’t get at least a card for the elbow.
But regardless, as Ange says, we have to accept their decisions and move on. The job of a referee is very difficult and it’s only getting harder.
