Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has revealed that there is a €15m (£13m) difference between Tottenham’s asking price for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and what Juventus are willing to pay for the midfielder.
Over the last couple of days, multiple outlets (The Telegraph and The Daily Mail) have reported that Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and his assistant Giovanni Manna were at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday to run the rule over Hojbjerg.
Both publications suggested that the Spurs star had been identified as one of the Old Lady’s top midfield targets, with the latter revealing that the Lilywhites are demanding £30m for the Dane.
Juventus and Spurs are apart in Hojbjerg valuation
However, Venerato has now claimed that the Premier League club want €40m (£34.8m) to part ways with the 28-year-old in January while the Serie A giants are only willing to pay €25m (£21.8m) for the experienced midfielder.
The journalist further added that Juve have to make careful ‘evaluations’ as they cannot afford both Hojbjerg and Domenico Berardi, with the Sassuolo star also alleged to be on Bianconeri’s radar.
Venerato told La Domenica Sportiva (as relayed by TuttoJuve): “The suspensions require a reinforcement, Juventus have moved for Hojbjerg, the English ask for 40 million, but Giuntoli offers 25 but with the loan formula with an obligation to buy.
“He is Allegri’s favourite with De Paul a valid alternative but more inclined to the dribble and not a classic playmaker. Juventus are making economic evaluations on Berardi because they cannot afford him and Hojbjerg together.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I would be surprised if Spurs demanded £35m for Hojbjerg. They might have asked for such a fee in the summer but with the midfielder having just over 18 months left on his contract, I suspect that the Lilywhites would be happy with a fee of around £25m in January.
