It has been a fantastic week for many of the Tottenham Hotspur players out on loan, with Joe Rodon, Troy Parrott, and Japhet Tanganga all finding success at their respective clubs.

The Tottenham Hotspur first-team squad has had less of a good week, of course. The 4-1 defeat at Chelsea had long-term implications beyond losing three points and Ange Postecoglous unbeaten run coming to an end.

Injuries to Micky van de Ven and James Maddison, as well as suspensions for Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, will probably leave Postecoglou wishing he still had some of those players who are out on loan.

Tottenham Hotspur loan report

Hindsight is a fine thing, of course, but there have been plenty of positives for those who are temporarily away from the club regardless. Here’s how the loanees have performed over the last week, thanks to a report from Football.London.

Let’s start with the good news. Joe Rodon had a “major role to play” in Leeds United’s crucial victory over Championship leaders Leicester City.

Leeds Live gave Rodon a score of nine out of ten, and said he was “tremendous” as he forced Jamie Vardy to be a “spectator” in the first half. It’s also noted that the Welshman made some “massive slides, blocks, and clearances.”

Meanwhile, Djed Spence is thought to be close to returning to training, and all being well, could be ready for game time after the upcoming international break.

Speaking of returning from injury, Japhet Tanganga finally put his “nightmare start” to life at Augsburg behind him as he was named as an unused substitute for the German side. He will now be hoping to get some minutes under his belt at the weekend against Hoffenheim.

Troy Parrott made a breakthrough in his spell with Excelsior Rotterdam, as he managed to make his first start for the club in the cup, playing a full 90 minutes against Den Bosch. Later in the week, the Irishman was given another start in the league, playing 78 minutes in a 1-1 draw against AZ Alkmaar.

Fellow Spurs striker, Dane Scarlett, also had a good week, though he was still used as a substitute for high-flying Ipswich Town. The youngster “played a pivotal role” in the club’s 2-2 draw with Birmingham, coming off the bench in the 78th minute to help set up two goals.

The East Anglian Daily Times gave Scarlett a score of seven out of ten, and commended the striker for a “big performance” which involved “great trickery.”

After scoring two goals in a week for Port Vale, it was a less spectacular week this time around for Alfie Devine. He played the full 90 minutes in a goalless FA Cup clash with Burton Albion, before being rested for the EFL Trophy defeat to Wrexham.

It was not a good week for Sergio Reguilón, who received a four out of ten rating from Manchester Evening News for a “reckless” performance in Man Utd’s defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup. The Spaniard then sat on the bench for the win over Fulham, with Diogo Dalot being preferred at left-back.

Finally, Tanguy Ndombele has been absent for the last two games due to a groin injury, but his “struggles” at Galatasaray cannot go unnoticed.

The Frenchman has largely found himself on the bench, has been accused of eating junk food, and it’s even suggested his boss wants him to lose weight before he has a chance to play again.

Ndombele was on the bench for the recent Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich but did not get any minutes.

Spurs Web Opinion

I’m really happy for Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett in particular. Parrott has been pushing for the start for a while, and Scarlett has finally shown a little bit of what he can do for Ipswich. Hopefully, they both build on this now.
