Jermaine Jenas has said that Wolves were fully deserving of a win against Tottenham on Saturday, given the amount of chances they created in the second half.

Spurs fans were fearful heading into the clash at Molineux, given the number of key players that the Lilywhites were missing due to suspension and injuries.

It turned out that the fear was not misplaced as the away side lacked intensity and struggled to create many chances.

Tottenham were fortunate to still have the lead heading into stoppage time as Gary O’Neil’s men had spurned several chances to equalise.

However, the home side got their just reward in injury time as strikes from Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina saw them emerge with all three points.

Ange Postecoglou admitted after the game that his side could have been more aggressive in possession, especially in the first half, but insisted that he could not fault the commitment of his players (Football.London).

Jermaine Jenas was impressed with Wolves

Jenas has now told BBC Sport about the result: “Wolves certainly deserved three points as I thought they were the better team. Don’t get me wrong – I thought for the first 15 minutes of the game, Spurs were dominant. They controlled the ball and got their goal. But after that, they were hanging on and Wolves just got stronger and stronger as the game went on.

“The way that Gary O’Neil has set up his team with the dynamic elements of the game is great. The way they drove forwards on the pitch with the numbers, the bodies getting forward, so when the ball eventually falls back to Matheus Cunha he’s got options.

“In the second half, they really came on strong and it was just chance, after chance, after chance. The Pablo Sarabia goal is one of the best ones this weekend. The touch from him is absolutely brilliant, he’d just been brought on as well.

“Then they wanted to go and get the next one because they had the urgency. Wolves have had a tough couple of weeks but Gary O’Neil galvanised this group and they got everything they deserved.”

Spurs Web Opinion

The manner of the defeat was disappointing since we conceded two late goals, with the Lemina one being quite preventable. However, we did not deserve anything from the game and we looked susceptible at the back each time Wolves came forward.
