Danny Rose has been reflecting on his time at Tottenham Hotspur, and revealed just how important Aaron Lennon was in helping him adjust to life at the club.

Arriving in a new place at the age of 16 can be tough for anyone, never mind the fact that Danny Rose was signing for one of the biggest clubs in England and moving from Yorkshire to London.

Rose spent 14 years at Spurs in total, becoming a key figure in Mauricio Pochettinos squad for a couple of title challenges and the journey to the Champions League final in 2019.

Aaron Lennon helped Danny Rose at Spurs

Given his tenure at the club, Rose saw a number of players and managers come and go, but perhaps none were as important to his successful settling in at the club as Aaron Lennon.

In an appearance on the Off the Shelf podcast, Rose explained how Lennon – who had also joined Spurs from Leeds previously – helped him in those early days at Tottenham.

“Aaron [Lennon] was absolutely pivotal for me,” Rose said. “I followed him everywhere around the training ground. He treated me like family. He did everything to make sure I was okay.

“So, I don’t remember if it was difficult for me to settle because I had Aaron, and he was like a brother to me. He made the first two, three, four years perfect for me, and I’ll always owe him for that.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Aaron Lennon was a real favourite of mine growing up, and he’s a player that I think is a bit underrated – maybe because he never quite hit the big time, but always did a brilliant job.

I remember seeing him live for the England U21s; I was sitting front row and he was the fastest person I’ve ever seen in my life.
