In what comes as a potential blow to Tottenham, Genoa have confirmed that the North London club’s rumoured target, Albert Gudmundsson, has penned a contract extension.
Tottenham’s interest in Gudmundsson first came to light last week when SOS Fanta reported that the Lilywhites were ‘very attentive’ to the attacker’s situation.
The report revealed that Spurs had scouted the 26-year-old extensively this season and added that AS Roma were also on securing his services.
At the start of this week, Genova Today went one step further and installed Spurs as the favourites to win the race for the Icelandic international, asserting that the Premier League club had watched the player for ‘some time’.
Albert Gudmundsson will be harder for Spurs to sign
However, a few days ago, Fabrizio Romano handed Tottenham a blow by revealing that the winger is expected to put pen to paper on a new contract with Genoa.
The Serie A club have now officially confirmed that Gudmundsson has committed his future at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium until 2027.

While this development does not completely rule out the prospect of Gudmundsson leaving Genoa in January, what it does mean is that the winger’s suitors would have to pay a substantial fee to swoop for him.
