Fabrizio Romano says rumoured Tottenham target Trevor Chalobah is guaranteed to leave Chelsea in January.
It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that signing a centre-back is a priority for Ange Postecoglou’s men in January, with GiveMeSport reporting on October 26 that Chalobah is one of four names on the top of the North London club’s wishlist.
The outlet claimed that Spurs view the 24-year-old as an ‘intriguing option’ since he can also step into midfield if required.
Football Insider reported last week that Chelsea are keen to bring a new goalkeeper through the door in January but the club would have to sell someone first to ensure they comply with the FFP rules.
The publication added that the Blues have thus decided to put Chalobah on the shop window, with Spurs likely to ‘throw their hat in the ring’ for the Englishman.
Trevoh Chalobah will leave Chelsea amid Spurs links
Romano has now also confirmed that the centre-back is expected to leave Stamford Bridge when the transfer window reopens.
The journalist stated on his YouTube channel: “Also guys, today we have had rumours about Benoit Badiashille and a January move, from what I’m hearing the only player who is expected to leave Chelsea in that position in January is Trevoh Chalobah.
“Chalobah is going to leave Chelsea in January and for Badiashille, Chelsea invested a lot of money last year, so letting him go cheaply, is not something Chelsea are considering. For Chelsea, the idea is very clear, the player leaving in January is Trevoh Chalobah.”
Spurs Web Opinion
Tottenham only showed interest in Chalobah late in the summer transfer window after it became clear that deals for their top targets would not be possible. So, I do not think the Chelsea star is near the top of Spurs’ wishlist.
