Sport have revealed that Ansu Fati, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, wants to return to Barcelona next season and prove his worth at Camp Nou.

During the final few days of the summer transfer window, there were some suggestions that Spurs could win the race for Fati (Sky Sports), but the Barcelona star eventually ended up joining Brighton on a season-long loan, with the North London club snapping up Brennan Johnson instead.

Fati has had a promising start to his time at the Amex Stadium, with four goals across all competitions so far, and he will be hoping to establish himself as a fixture in Roberto De Zerbi’s starting eleven over the coming weeks and months.

Ansu Fati wants to return to Barcelona in 2024

It remains to be seen if Tottenham reignite their interest in Fati but if Sport’s latest update is to be believed, the youngster is clear on what he wants to do next summer.

The report states that the 21-year-old’s ‘absolute priority’ is to return to Barca and fight for a place in the side.

It is explained that the winger was ‘very reluctant’ to leave his boyhood club in the summer but decided to do so in order to prove that he can perform consistently at the highest level.

With Fati being contracted to Barca until 2027, there is thought to be a belief among the player’s entourage that he can have an important role back in Catalonia next season, particularly given the struggles of the Blaugrana’s attacking players this season.

However, the publication asserts that Xavi Hernandez’s men expect offers to arrive for the attacker and would ‘not mind a sale’ if they receive a bid of €30m (£26.2m) next summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Fati is made available for £26m, I have no doubt that Tottenham and several other clubs across Europe would be interested.

However, my suspicion is that his value will rise substantially as he establishes himself as a regular at Brighton over the coming months and demonstrates his qualities.
