The road has seemingly cleared a little for Tottenham to swoop for Trevoh Chalobah, with Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reporting that Bayern Munich have withdrawn from the race to sign the Chelsea star.

Various outlets have reported over the last few weeks that Tottenham are expected to reignite their interest in Chalobah after missing out on him in the summer, with the centre-back’s versatility thought to appeal to Ange Postecoglou (GiveMeSport).

It has been confirmed by various sources over recent days (including Fabrizio Romano) that the Blues have decided to put their academy graduate on the shop window in January.

However, it had also emerged recently that the likes of Bayern Munich (Football Insider), AS Roma (CalcioMercato via The Metro) and Juventus (Tutto Juve) are circling around the Chelsea academy graduate.

Bayern Munich withdraw from Trevoh Chalobah race

Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that Bayern are no longer expected to push ahead with a move for Chalobah.

He gave an interesting reason for why that is the case, explaining that the 24-year-old is not expected to be fit until the end of January.

It remains to be seen if the Chelsea star’s injury issue would deter Spurs or any of his other suitors.

Chalobah has been out of action since the start of August. So, the injury is quite significant and clubs will have a few doubts about whether the 24-year-old would be able to return to his pre-injury levels after being sidelined for six months.

So the Chelsea academy graduate might have to prove his fitness for the Blues youth sides to convince the likes of Spurs to vie for his signature next summer.
