Journalist Paul Brown says that Ange Postecoglou actually quite likes Richarlison as a player and the Brazilian is keen to prove himself at Tottenham.

Richarlison has failed to live up to expectations since his big-money switch from Everton 18 months ago and some Spurs fans are genuinely starting to wonder if things will ever click for the forward in a Tottenham shirt.

The 26-year-old is currently out with an injury and some reports over the past few weeks have even raised the possibility of the North London club cashing in on the player (Alex Crook –talkSPORT, 14/11 8:15 am).

It was asserted by The Telegraph last week that the former Toffees star is expected to be the subject of interest from Saudi Pro League sides in January.

However, Football Insider claimed a couple of days ago that Richarlison has no desire to move to the Middle East at this stage of his career and is desperate to come good at Spurs.

Postecoglou is a fan of Richarlison at Tottenham

This claim has now been backed up by Brown, who has said that Postecoglou continues to believe that the forward could be an important player for his side.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “I don’t think Spurs want to sell Richarlison and Ange Postecoglou has been quite happy with him since he came in. I don’t think that’s just manager talk to try and boost a player’s confidence. I do think he genuinely does like Richarlison as a player. 

“His form improved in the last few weeks, and I’m still convinced he’s going to be an important part of the team this season. I’m not even terribly sure whether Richarlison would want to go to Saudi at this stage of his career. 

“I think he’s got a point to prove in the Premier League and he wants to win things with Spurs and I’m not sure he would go for the money.

“I think he’s the kind of player that wants to be a success in the Premier League with a big team and I think Spurs is the right place for him and that he’s probably staying.”

I do not think Tottenham would consider selling Richarlison in January unless they receive a crazy offer.

I certainly would not put it beyond the Brazilian to come good in a Spurs shirt but unless he impresses over the coming months, there is a very real possibility that he will be moved on next summer.
