Here’s how we rated the Spurs players following the ninety of action in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Ange Postecoglou’s side returned to winning ways following an emphatic 4-1 victory with goals from Destiny Udogie, Heung-min Son and a brace from Richarlison.
Guglielmo Vicario: A straightforward shift for the Italian with Newcastle failing to prove to be a threat until Joelinton’s goal and Wilson’s injury-time header. 6.
Pedro Porro: Tottenham’s most in-form player by a mile. His pass for Richarlison’s second was stunning. 9.
Cristian Romero: A typical solid display from the Argentine but he is still proving to be a huge liability with his recklessness when he risked a red card following a VAR check after a needlessly heavy tackle on Wilson. 6.
Ben Davies: His sliding challenge early on to toe the ball away from a certain Isak goal proved to be massive in helping to decide the course of the game. 7.
Destiny Udogie: Scored his first goal in Tottenham colours to cap off what was a brilliant display from the Italian at both ends of the pitch. 8.
Yves Bissouma: His partnership with Sarr works so well. Has struggled with form since his red card at Luton but is slowly finding his feet once again. 7.
Papa Matar Sarr: It’s when he’s not in the side you notice just how much he does in the middle of the park. Replaced on 72 minutes by Hojbjerg. 7.
Dejan Kulusevski: Is really relishing the freedom to play in the number 10 role in the absence of James Maddison. 7.
Richarlison: Saw plenty of the ball in then opening minutes, worked hard and got his reward when he scored his first goal with his feet in Spurs colours. Brought off with just under 20 minutes left as he continues his comeback from surgery. 8.
Heung-min Son: Caused Kieran Tripper plenty of problems in his role on the left-hand side of the Tottenham attack and put in a brilliant shift which saw him take over from Christian Eriksen as having the most assists for the club in the Premier League era. Got the goal he deserved when he was brought down in the box and dispatched the penalty into the bottom corner. 10.
Brennan Johnson: So close to his second goal for the club which cannoned back off the inside of the post. His pace continues to cause the opposition issues, just needs to work on his end product. 7.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: A second-half replacement, tried to keep the ball moving. 6.
Giovani Lo Celso: Came on with 17 minutes remaining in place of Richarlison after losing his place in the starting eleven. 6.
Bryan Gil: A late replacement. NA.
Oliver Skipp: Came on for Bissouma with 5 minutes remaining. Had a great chance to score. N/A
Jamie Donley: A second Premier League appearance for the academy graduate in injury time. N/A.
