Tottenham bounced back in style against Newcastle United and will now look to sustain the momentum during a hectic Christmas and New Year period. Here is a look at Postecoglou’s next five fixtures in the league compared to Spurs’ Premier League rivals.
Spurs came into the game against the Magpies under immense pressure. They had accumulated just one point from their previous five games and were desperate to get back to winning ways. The team responded magnificently by beating Eddie Howe’s team 4-1 on the night.
There were phases during the game when Spurs looked almost unplayable. It was a performance reminiscent of the early weeks under Ange Postecoglou when he had a full squad at his disposal. More importantly, they managed to convert their chances into goals, unlike in previous games.
Currently, Spurs are seven points off first-placed Liverpool and have a very hectic schedule coming up. Not so long ago, the North London club were perched on top of the table themselves.
One silver lining is that Arsenal and Manchester United dropped points last weekend which was made all the sweeter by the fact that Spurs managed to secure all three points themselves. Elsewhere, City, Liverpool and Villa all managed to secure wins in their respective games.

Spurs Web Opinion
Spurs play three games in a seven-day period between the 23rd and 31st of December which could really take a toll on our players. The only saving grace is that we don’t face any of the top six teams in this run, with the three games coming against Everton, Brighton and Bournemouth.
Liverpool and Arsenal face each other. So do Manchester United and Aston Villa. The hectic schedule would be tough to cope with for a number of clubs and the next few weeks could be pivotal in shaping our season. Let’s hope we can build on the momentum from the Newcastle win and get positive results in the upcoming games.
