Gary Neville has said that Dejan Kulusevski could potentially be worth £100m now that he has demonstrated that he can operate as a number ten.

In the absence of James Maddison, Kulusevski has really stepped up and become Tottenham’s main creative outlet, with the winger now regularly contributing with goals and assists.

The former Juventus star has been tasked with playing as the number ten on a few occasions over recent weeks, and he has arguably proven even more of a threat in the central role when he receives the ball in between the lines that he is on the flank.

The 23-year-old admitted a couple of weeks ago that he really enjoys playing centrally and that is clearly showing in his game (Standard).

He was once again tasked with playing as the number ten at the City Ground and he was involved in some of Tottenham’s best moves in the first half.

However, his defining contributions came after he moved to his more regular right wing as Brennan Johnson had to be withdrawn in the 31st minute due to a head injury.

Kulusevski provided an inch-perfect cross for Richarlison to steer home from close range at the end of the first half before scoring himself in the 65th minute with a rasping drive that Matt Turner failed to keep out.

Neville in awe of Dejan Kulusevski at Tottenham

Neville sang Kulusevski’s praise after the game, insisting that the former Juventus man’s ability to play as a number ten makes him a rare breed.

The pundit told Sky Sports about the Tottenham man: “Players that play in that role, that take it on the back foot and accept it on the back foot, the attacking midfielders, the No 10s, any player of that ilk, they’re very rare to be able to do that.

“What we’ve seen in the last few weeks is him playing that role and become one of the rare players.

“You’re talking about him going from a player who might be £50m on the right to being something that if he gets going in that No 10 position, can be really special and then you’re pushing it to an £80m or £100m player.

“It’s only potential at the moment and there’s a long way to go, but that’s what I see in him playing in that more central role. It’s really exciting. James Maddison will have to fight for that back!”

Not only did Kulusevski provide the two moments of quality in the final third but he was once again selfless in his running off the ball, which we have now come to expect from him. He worked his socks off after Spurs were reduced to ten men, thus making the jobs of his teammates a lot easier.
