90 min have revealed that Tottenham’s scouts travelled to Belgium last week to watch Royal Antwerp teenager Arthur Vermeeren in action against Barcelona.

Vermeeren enjoyed a breakthrough year in Belgian football last season and the central midfielder has taken his game up another notch this season, having established himself as one of Royal Antwerp’s key players.

The teenager has started every one of the club’s Jupiler Pro League and Champions League matches and his performances are now seemingly catching the attention of several big-hitters.

Tottenham scouts in attendance to watch Vermeeren

90 min have now revealed that scouts from Spurs were present at the Bosuilstadion to watch the youngster in action on Wednesday.

The Tottenham representatives would have been impressed by what they witnessed as Vermeeren found the back of the net and was one of the best players on the pitch as Antwerp pulled off a surprise 3-2 win.

According to 90 min’s update, scouts from Arsenal were also present at the venue, with both the North London sides alleged to have been following the Belgian international’s progress all season.

The publication adds that Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester City have also previously enquired about Vermeeren’s availability.

Spurs Web Opinion

Vermeeren looks guaranteed to reach the highest level and his performances in the Champions League this season are proof that he is ready to make a step up to a top division. I would be quite surprised if the 18-year-old is still at Antwerp on the 1st of February.
