TuttoMercatoWeb have revealed that Eintracht Frankfurt’s £21m offer for rumoured Tottenham target, Gift Orban, has been turned down by Gent.

Orban had an exceptional introduction to Belgian football last term after breaking into Gent’s starting eleven, finishing the 2022-23 season with 20 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.

That brought him to the attention of Spurs, with the striker being heavily linked with a move to the North London club all through the summer transfer window (CaughtOffside).

The deal never materialised in the end and while the 21-year-old has not been as prolific so far this season, he still has a decent goal return, with 12 goals from 26 appearances in all competitions (Tranfermarkt).

Frankfurt step up interest in Gift Orban

TMW have now claimed that Frankfurt hold a ‘serious’ interest in Orban and launched an opening offer of €24m (£20.6m) for the striker.

However, the report reveals that this was turned down by Gent, who are holding out for a bigger fee for the young starlet.

The Italian outlet adds the Bundesliga club have not given up on their pursuit of the Nigerian and are expected to launch another offer shortly.

Spurs Web Opinion

Orban’s numbers this season do not make for particularly impressive reading, with only four of his goals coming in the Belgian top flight. The striker has seemingly feasted on sub-standard opposition in the Europa Conference League.

I remember how a section of Spurs fans on social media were apoplectic (despite only watching YouTube videos of Orban) that the Tottenham hierarchy did not want to pay £30m for the striker in the summer. It seems like the club’s restraint has been vindicated.
