Despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur of late, it seems Radu Dragusin will sign a new contract with Genoa, keeping him at the club until 2028.

Tottenham‘s depth in the heart of defence has been tested recently, with the injury to Micky van de Ven placing a particular strain on Ange Postecoglou‘s squad.

It is not surprising then, that the Australian has spoken of his desire to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window for fear of the team being hit with another injury (Football.London).

Over the last few weeks, there have been a number of names linked with the Lilywhites, but a new target has seemingly emerged in the past week or so, with Genoa’s Radu Dragusin linked to Spurs (CalcioMercato).

Radu Dragusin pursuit could be over already

Just today, it was claimed by the Telegraph that Tottenham’s hunt for a centre-half was leading them towards Dragusin, with a £26m price tag expected to be needed to sign the Romanian.

However, the chase for Dragusin may be over before it has even begun, as Fabrizio Romano has revealed the player is set to commit to a new contract with Genoa.

Romano tweeted: “Radu Dragusin will sign new deal at Genoa in the coming days, director Ottolini confirms. ‘He’s the next one to sign new deal until June 2028’. His salary will be improved — there’s no €30m release clause into current deal despite reports.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like Tottenham have been used as leverage for Dragusin’s agent to push Genoa into committing to a nice new contract for the player, and that will be the end of the North London club’s interest, I’m sure.

Still, there are plenty of other targets out there that we can focus on, like Jean-Clair Todibo for example. Let’s get him through the door as soon as possible, and move on to signing a new attacker.
