Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon has refused to divulge his hopes for the future, insisting that he is fully focused on doing well for Leeds United for the remainder of the season.
Rodon desperately needed to head out of the door at Spurs earlier this summer to get his career back on track and the centre-back has been able to do that since his loan move to Elland Road.
The 26-year-old has been one of the best centre-backs across the Championship this season and is showing the sort of form he did during his Swansea City days before he was snapped up by Tottenham.
The Wales international would be hoping to help Daniel Farke’s side to bounce straight back to the top flight at the first time of asking but still have some work to do with the club currently sitting 10 points behind the automatic promotion spots.
Leeds do not have the option to buy Rodon on a permanent basis and it has been reported over recent months that Spurs could demand as much as £20m for the defender next summer (TEAMtalk).
Joe Rodon coy on his future
Given the level the on-loan Tottenham man is currently playing at, Leeds might not fancy their chances of hanging on to him beyond next summer if they fail to win promotion.
The defender has now refused to divulge his intention, batting away questions about potential developments in January.
When asked if he wants his future to be resolved in next month’s transfer window, Rodon said (via Wales Online): “I can’t answer that question [smiles]. All I can focus on is the next game and see what happens.
“Of course [I’m here for the season] and my job is to give everything and try and be as successful as I possibly can with this team, this club.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I would not be surprised if Leeds attempt to try and secure Rodon on a permanent transfer in January as the Championship club might be aware that they might lose out on the centre-back if they wait until next summer.
The 26-year-old looks guaranteed to attract interest from top-flight clubs at the end of the season.
