Apparently, Sergio Reguilon’s destiny is largely in his own hands, as it emerges he can choose to end his loan spell at Manchester United – which could be great news for Borussia Dortmund and their hopes of signing the full-back.

Ever since Antonio Conte took over at Tottenham it appeared Sergio Reguilon‘s career was on a downward trajectory. The Spaniard was sidelined by his former boss, and endured an injury-ravaged loan spell at Atletico Madrid last season.

This season, however, Reguilon has enjoyed something of a revival, after securing a shock loan move to Manchester United. In just ten appearances for the Red Devils, the 27-year-old has earned the admiration of the supporters, and could be kept on at Old Trafford beyond January.

That is, if he wants to stay, and if Spurs allow the extension. It has emerged over the last week that Reguilon is attracting attention from German giants Borussia Dortmund, who are keen to secure a six-month loan deal for the player (Patrick Berger).

Reguilon may choose to leave Manchester United

It was previously suspected that both Tottenham and Manchester United would need to agree to an extension of his stay at Old Trafford, with BILD reportin yesterday that Reguilon may be able to end that loan spell of his own volition.

It is said Dortmund are “working intensively” on acquiring the Spaniard, and it is now revealed that the player himself has a “big advantage” in choosing his next destination, since he can choose to terminate his stay at Manchester United “at his own request.”

The situation there may make Reguilon a “perfect fit” for Dortmund, who do not have a lot of money to spend in January. They would therefore be interested in arranging a loan deal with an option to buy, though it is not known if Spurs would appreciate that arrangement.

I really wish we could just sell players like Reguilon rather than constantly shipping them out on loan. All the time he is out at other clubs temporarily, his contract is running down and so is his value.
