Micky van de Ven is celebrating winning a nine-darts challenge against darts referee Russell Bray tonight, but Tottenham Hotspur fans will be more interested to learn the defender will be back in training in the next two weeks.

Van de Ven quickly established himself as a key player in Ange Postecoglou‘s squad after arriving from Wolfsburg this summer, forging a strong partnership with Cristian Romero in the heart of the Spurs defence.

It is no coincidence that van de Ven picked up an injury at the start of November, and the Lilywhites went on a run of five games without picking up a win in his absence. Sadly, the injury to the young Dutchman has highlighted a weak area in Postecoglou’s squad.

While Tottenham are now expected to sign a new centre-back in the January transfer window to provide cover for this situation (Telegraph), Spurs fans are still very keen to see van de Ven back in action as soon as possible.

Van de Ven reveals when he will return to training

Well, we have good news on that front. The 22-year-old has been up on the Ally Pally stage this weekend taking part in a fun darts challenge, and not only did he win, but he also shared an update on his road to recovery.

The Spurs defender is due to recover from his injury at some point in January, but has revealed (via Rob Maul) that he will be back in training “within two weeks.”

Van de Ven also managed to beat retiring darts referee Russell Bray in a nine-darts challenge on the night.

Is there anything this lad can’t do? In all seriousness, though, it’s such good news that we’ll have van de Ven back in training soon, and hopefully the end is now in sight for this horrible injury. Once he is back, we will be far more settled as a team.
