Ange Postecoglou was full of praise for Guglielmo Vicario this evening after the Tottenham goalkeeper pulled off a number of impressive saves to earn all three points against Everton.
While Spurs looked at their free-flowing and dangerous best for a short spell in the first half, scoring two goals in that time, the Toffees were arguably the better team for large portions of the match.
The Tottenham defence was up against it from minute one in N17, with Everton pumping the box with high-quality crosses to the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
To make matters worse, Spurs are still without Micky Van de Ven, Destiny Udogie was suspended for the day, and Cristian Romero was forced off with a tight hamstring at half-time.
Fortunately, Guglielmo Vicario was on hand to save the day on more than one occasion for the North Londoners, including a fortunate deflection off his thigh to deny Arnaut Danjuma an equaliser in the dying moments.

Postecoglou full of praise for Guglielmo Vicario
Postecoglou said (Football London): “We’ve got players playing out of position. Eric has come on at half-time and the last time he played would have been weeks ago, but at the same time I think a lot of their chances came from balls into the box and being very aggressive which they’re good at.
“Sometimes you’ve just got to defend and we did. Vic was outstanding today with a couple of brilliant saves. He’s been brilliant from day one for us, and we haven’t always needed him like we did today.
“Other times it’s probably one or two saves a game, if that, but he’s been important in our build-up and in our organisation. But today we needed his goalkeeping. It wasn’t just the saves he makes.
“They’re so strong from corners and put so much pressure on the goalkeeper, and I thought he stood up really well.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
For the price Tottenham paid for him, Guglielmo Vicario might be up there as the best value-for-money signing this season. He looks like he was made for Premier League football!
