Speaking to the press ahead of the clash with Brighton tomorrow, Ange Postecoglou has given some details about when we can expect Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr, and Heung-min Son to depart for international duty next month.
After a fairly disastrous November, during which time Tottenham failed to earn a single point, the Lilywhites have found their form once more. Ange Postecoglou‘s side are now unbeaten in three games, thanks to wins over Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Newcastle.
As we hit the halfway point of the season, Spurs are right in the mix when it comes to the title race, and a win against Brighton would close the gap on the likes of Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Liverpool.

When do players leave for AFCON and Asia Cup?
However, Tottenham will be without a handful of key players throughout January, and not just because of the injury crisis affecting the club.
We already know that Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr will head to the African Cup of Nations next month, while Heung-min Son will also participate in the Asia Cup.
On their imminent departures, Ange Postecoglou told the press (via Hayters): “It won’t affect our New Years Day game, but we are in dialogue now with the three lads. I think Bissouma will probably leave a bit early as he’s obviously suspended.
“For Pape and Sonny, it’ll be sometime in early January but we haven’t got official confirmation yet.”

The last thing we need right now is to lose another three huge players, but there’s not a lot we can do really. It will be very interesting to see what the club does to accommodate for these absences. It seems Dane Scarlett will cover for Sonny, but the centre of midfield may require a loan signing at least.
