As Tottenham Hotspur prepare to face Brighton and Hove Albion tomorrow, Ange Postecoglou has addressed the situation regarding Micky van de Ven’s injury, and confirmed the young defender is nearing the end of his recovery.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side go into the game against the Seagulls on a run of three straight victories in the Premier League so far this month, after defeating Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Newcastle United.

Spurs have turned their fortunes around of late after going the whole of November without picking up a win, and the Lilywhites are now back in the top four. A win against Brighton would help to close the gap on the top three and keep Spurs in the title race.

When will Micky van de Ven be back from injury?

Spurs still have a number of key players left to return to their squad, of course, with central defender Micky van de Ven arguably one of the most important players missing at the moment.

In his latest press conference (via Football.London), Postecoglou maintained a realistic and cautious approach to judging van de Ven’s recovery, but did give some semblance of a timeline as to when we can expect the Dutchman to return.

When asked about van de Ven claiming he will back in two-three weeks, Postecoglou said: “Where did he say that? Ah the darts. I wouldn’t put too much in what the players say mate. I don’t think [he’ll be back for] Burnley, maybe for Man United but I wouldn’t know until I see him in training. He’s at the tail end of it now.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If we can get van de Ven back for the game against United on January 14th, that would be excellent. I have been expecting the worst, and assuming van de Ven would be out until the end of January, so any earlier is a real bonus.
