TuttoJuve have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in Federico Chiesa as Juventus try to tie the attacker to a new contract.

Tottenham’s interest in Chiesa first came to light two months ago when CMW.it claimed that the Lilywhites and Newcastle United were both eyeing a January move for the player.

The 26-year-old has been an important part of Massimiliano Allegri’s set-up this season, having scored five goals and provided two assists in 15 Serie A appearances.

Tottenham make advances towards Federico Chiesa

TuttoJuve has now said that with Chiesa having just 18 months left on his deal, Juve are keen to tie him down to a new contract.

It is revealed that the player’s entourage has agreed to discuss an extension, with the Old Lady planning on offering him the same salary along with additional performance-related bonuses.

However, the report says that behind the scenes, Spurs have ‘begun to move heavily’ for the Italy international head of the January window.

The Bianconeri are expected to say ‘no’ in next month’s transfer window unless they receive an ‘indispensable’ offer for the attacker but it is revealed that the Serie A giants have identified candidates to replace him just in case.

The publication adds that if Chiesa performs well in the Euros next summer, Juve could receive ‘very important offers’ of around €80m (£69.3m) for the Fiorentina man, which they might find difficult to refuse.

Spurs Web Opinion

The main takeaway from this report seems to be that Juve will not sell Chiesa in January unless they receive a huge offer. However, with the winger seemingly not close to putting pen to paper on a new contract, perhaps Spurs or a few other clubs could test the waters with a bid or two next month.
