Marca have claimed that Real Madrid and Barcelona are now at the front of the queue to sign rumoured Tottenham target, Santiago Gimenez.
Several outlets over the last couple of months have indicated that Tottenham are extremely keen on landing Gimenez after scouting him extensively this season (Daily Mirror).
However, over the last week, it has become increasingly clear that the centre-forward is likely to stay put at De Kuip in January.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed in his column on Football Insider last week that Feyenoord were keen to keep hold of their star man and had slapped a £60m price tag on the player to ward off interest.
GiveMeSport then reported a few days ago that the feeling around the 22-year-old is that he is more likely to leave Rotterdam at the end of the season rather than next month.
Growing interest in Spurs target Santiago Gimenez
The same claim has now been backed up by Marca, who say that Gimenez is expected to remain at Feyenoord unless ‘a great offer arrives’ for the player in January.
The report reveals that the interest in the centre-forward is growing, with clubs from Spain, Germany and Italy said to have scouted the player recently.
The publication adds that La Liga giants, Barca and Real Madrid, ‘lead’ the growing list of Gimenez’s admirers.
Spurs Web Opinion
It looks like there is likely to be a major bidding war for Gimenez’s signature next summer. However, I would not rule out some Premier League club from making a mammoth offer for the Mexican international in January.
If Arsenal do end up winning the race for Ivan Toney, I can see Chelsea deciding to break the bank to land the Feyenoord star.
