Micky van de Ven has admitted that he is delighted to be back out on the pitch, revealing that he is ready to play against Manchester United if he gets an opportunity to do so.
Van de Ven had an exceptional start to his Spurs career, having arguably been one of the best centre-backs across the Premier League during the first few months of the campaign.
However, the Dutchman has not featured since picking up a hamstring injury at the start of November, with Ben Davies deputising in central defence during his absence.
The former Wolfsburg man’s return could not be more timely, with Davies himself picking up a hamstring strain in Tottenham’s FA Cup third-round win over Burnley last Friday.
Micky Van de Ven is ready for his Tottenham return
Van de Ven was named in the matchday squad against the Clarets but Ange Postecolgou chose against giving the defender any minutes.
The centre-back has now confirmed that he has fully recovered from his injury and admitted that it has been frustrating to watch on from the sidelines for over two months.
Van de Ven told Tottenham’s official website: “I’m really happy to be back. It’s always a good feeling to be back with the squad and be on the bench. Next week, a big game is coming so hopefully I’ll get some minutes over there.
“I’m feeling fit, I have no pain anymore, so I think I’m ready. It’s long, it was like 10 weeks I’ve been out, it’s frustrating when you have to watch from the sidelines.
“It’s a really good time for the players to come back, it’s an important second half of the season ahead so hopefully everybody will stay fit, and we’ll see what will happen.”
Spurs Web Opinion
With Davies now out injured, Postecoglou has no choice but to start Van de Ven at Old Trafford. The only question is whether he will partner Emerson Royal, Cristian Romero or Radu Dragusin.
