As Troy Parrott continues to impress on loan at Excelsior Rotterdam, other top Dutch clubs are considering a move for the striker. However, Tottenham Hotspur have still not decided what the player’s future holds.
It’s not easy to break into the Tottenham first team, especially if you’re an attacker competing with the likes of Heung-min Son and Richarlison. So, it makes sense that Troy Parrott ventured out on loan once more this season.
The Irishman has spent the season on loan with Eredivisie side Excelsior Rotterdam, and it’s safe to say his time there has been a success so far.
With seven goals and three assists in 21 games (Transfermarkt), Parrott delivers a goal contribution roughly once every two games, and that is in a team struggling near the bottom of the division.
His impact has not gone unnoticed, and Parrott is now wanted by a number of Eredivisie clubs, including the two giants of the Netherlands league, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven (The 42).
What does the future hold for Troy Parrott?
Despite these good performances, it is still unclear whether Parrott actually has a future at Tottenham, and according to Football Insider, there are a number of options on the table now being considered when it comes to his next steps.
It is believed Spurs are “yet to make a final decision” on what they want to do with Parrott, with another loan spell next season a possibility. Apparently, the Lilywhites would prefer the 22-year-old to stay in England if that were the course of action.
While it is expected to be very hard for Parrott to break into the Spurs lineup next year, there is a chance he could be included in the senior squad if his good form continues.
However, Tottenham are also thought to be open to a permanent sale, but only if the “right offer” is sent their way this summer.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do like Parrott and I think he has a bright future, but I just can’t see that future being with Spurs. He’s not quite at the quality we need, and a transfer to a Championship club looks the most likely in my opinion.
