Football Insider claim that Tottenham Hotspur continue to keep an eye on Conor Gallagher as they are cognizant of the fact that Chelsea need to raise funds through player sales in the summer.
Anyone who has followed Spurs Web’s coverage would be aware that a whole host of publications have continued to talk up the possibility of Tottenham making a move for Gallagher during the summer.
Two weeks ago, The Daily Mail reported that while the 23-year-old continues to near the final year of his contract, Chelsea are reluctant to offer him a new deal worth more than £150,000 per week.
It was explained that Tottenham would have an advantage in the race for the England international’s signature as he would prefer to remain in London if he leaves his boyhood club in the summer.
Chelsea’s financial situation could help Tottenham
Football Insider have now said Spurs ‘continue to retain a concrete interest’ in Gallagher as they are aware that their London rivals are in a difficult position.
The report states that the Blues need to raise funds to comply with Premier League financial rules, which is why the Lilywhites believe that the midfielder could be put on the shop window.
The publication adds that while Mauricio Pochettino views Gallagher as an ‘integral part of his squad’, the West London club must take ’emergency action’ in the summer in order to avoid a points deduction catastrophe.

This is probably the reason Spurs chose not to move for Gallagher in January, knowing that there is a high possibility of a much cheaper deal in the summer. However, a lot can change between now and June and the possibility of the 23-year-old signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge cannot be ruled out.
