Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the final whistle in this afternoon’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Ange Postecoglou’s side fell behind to an Eberechi Eze free-kick in the second half, but Spurs produced a fine comeback to take all three points and bounce back in style today with a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Timo Werner, Cristian Romero, and Heung-min Son.
Guglielmo Vicario: Could do nothing about Eze’s brilliant free-kick. Had very little to do for the rest of the game. 7.
Emerson Royal: Everything went down the right side for Spurs in the second half, and Royal was constantly pushing forward and getting involved. Didn’t really do anything major, but a solid display. 6.
Cristian Romero: Was inexplicably the furthest man forward with ten minutes to go, and was rewarded with a nice headed goal to turn the game in Tottenham’s favour. 7.
Micky van de Ven: Made a couple of decent clearances and interceptions, but a quiet afternoon all in all for the Dutchman. 6.
Destiny Udogie: A very quiet second half from the usually electric Udogie, but that could be down to him just coming back from injury. 6.
Yves Bissouma: A very efficient and controlled performance from Bissouma today. Nothing especially spectacular, but the midfielder dictated the flow of the game and kept Spurs ticking throughout. 7.
Rodrigo Bentancur: Gave away the free-kick that led to Palace’s goal. Was subbed off after 60 minutes. Definitely isn’t himself right now. 5.
James Maddison: Had been threatening to create something at some point, and played an absolutely genius ball into the box for Romero’s goal to turn the game on its head. Replaced by Hojbjerg with ten minutes to go. 8.
Dejan Kulusevski: Moved central after Johnson was introduced, but still struggled to assert himself on the game in any meaningful way. 5.
Timo Werner: Missed another chance early in the second half, but finally got his first goal for the club to get Spurs back in the game with a gift of a chance from Brennan Johnson’s assist. Taken off with ten minutes to go. 6.
Heung-min Son: Looked far more lively, hitting the base of the post early on in the half. Showed great footwork to create a chance for himself that just went wide. Was always going to score, and put the game beyond doubt late on with a lovely finish. 8.
Brennan Johnson: Replaced Bentancur on the hour-mark, and missed a sitter with his very first touch. Bounced back brilliantly, though, and worked incredibly hard to create the chance for Werner’s goal. Was also involved in Son’s goal, too. 8.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Just played the steady balls and brought some calm to the midfield. Did enough for a brief but successful cameo. 6.
Pape Sarr: Made some nice forward runs with the ball and looked lively, but it was always going to be difficult to impose himself on the game with ten minutes of action. 6.
Giovani Lo Celso: Replaced Bissouma late on but had little time to do anything meaningful. N/A.
Dane Scarlett: Replaced Son late on but had little time to do anything meaningful. N/A.
