Heung-min Son may be Tottenham’s top goalscorer this season, but the captain has urged the other attacking players around him to stay ‘hungry’ and to keep contributing, too.
It has been a fantastically entertaining season for Tottenham fans so far this year, with Ange Postecoglou‘s exciting style of play leading to plenty of goals and attacking play.
Spurs have now scored in 38 consecutive games, and one thing you can count on is that the goals will flow whenever the Lilywhites play.
Son leads the way this term with 14 goals and eight assists (Transfermarkt), but the likes of Richarlison, Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, and now Timo Werner contributing their fair share of attacking returns.
In Sunday’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa, for instance, goals came from Maddison, Johnson, Son and Werner, with assists from Pape Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski.
Spurs now have 11 games remaining this season, with fourth place in sight, and the title race not entirely out of their reach yet, either.
Heung-min Son wants everyone to do their bit
With some huge games to come down the line as Spurs battle to finish strong this season, Son has now sent a rallying cry to his teammates, and demanded that they all do their part to ensure the team challenges at the very top this year.
He told the Standard that his fellow forwards need to stay ‘hungry’: “Everybody has to take a big step forward. They have to take big responsibility, because they’re playing in the Premier League for Spurs.”
Spurs Web Opinion
So far so good from the attacking roster at Spurs, but Son is right, they all need to keep this up now until the end of the season. We’re bound to keep scoring goals, but they need to keep coming from all sides and a wide range of players so that our opponents don’t know how to handle us.
