Harry Redknapp has backed Tottenham Hotspur to pip Aston Villa to a fourth-place finish, with the former Spurs boss opining that the Lilywhites have a stronger squad than Villa do.
While Manchester United briefly threatened to challenge for Champions League qualification a few weeks ago, they have since lost ground, currently sitting well below Tottenham and Aston Villa.
It now looks set to be a straight battle for the final guaranteed Champions League spot between Spurs and Villa, with Unai Emery’s men currently sitting just two points ahead of the North London side, having played a game more.
All indications are that the race will go right down to the wire and the two sides will be hoping that the Premier League gets an extra Champions League spot so that fifth place would be enough to get into the competition next season.
Harry Redknapp tips Tottenham for top four
Redknapp backed his former side to edge out Villa in the final run-in, suggesting that Ange Postecoglou‘s men have more quality than the Midlands side do.
When asked to predict who will finish fourth, the 77-year-old told talkSPORT: “I’ve said all along I thought Tottenham would finish fourth. They’ve got a good squad, and with that squad, I would certainly see them finishing above Villa.
“Villa have done great this year, they’ve had a fantastic season but I just feel that Tottenham maybe have a slightly stronger squad that could nick that fourth place.”

Both Tottenham and Villa have some tough fixtures left this season but Spurs have given a much better account of themselves against the top sides than Villa have so far this campaign, which potentially gives Postecoglou’s side an advantage.
The fact that Villa have more fixtures to play since they are still going strong in the Europa Conference League might also count against them in the final run-in.
