AS have suggested that Tottenham academy starlet Yago Santiago could be signed for a major discount this summer, pointing towards his Transfermarkt value.
Santiago has progressed through the age group ranks at Spurs over the last couple of years and the winger is having a sensational campaign for the Under-21s, with seven goals and five assists in 13 appearances in Premier League 2 this season (Transfermarkt).
While the 20-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for Tottenham, he is not far away from doing so, having been named in the matchday squad by Ange Postecoglou on four occasions this season.
Yago Santiago is surely worth more than £170,000
AS have now praised the Tottenham youngster and have speculated on his future, suggesting that he could perhaps be on the move soon.
The report points out that the winger, who is contracted at Hotspur Way until 2025, could be available for a bargain fee of just €200k (£171k) this summer because that is his listed value on Transfermarkt.
The publication states that following the likes of Iago Aspas, Brais Mendez and Gabri Veiga, the Spurs man could be the next ‘Spanish pearl’ to emerge from the Celta Vigo youth system.
Even though Santiago is yet to be handed opportunities at the highest level, the outlet confidently predicts that he ‘will soon appear in the elite’.
Spurs Web Opinion
The fact that Postecoglou has named Santiago in his matchday squad on multiple occasions clearly shows that the Australian rates the winger highly. One would expect Spurs to offer the 20-year-old a new contract and loan him out in the summer so that he can get a taste of senior football.
