Dr. Rajpal Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, has revealed that Destiny Udogie is expected to recover before the start of July after his most recent quadriceps injury.

Udogie has had an impressive debut season in English football and would have been hoping to end the campaign strongly and play an important part for Italy at the Euros.

However, his dreams of doing so were shattered earlier this week after the left-back took to Instagram to reveal that his season had ended after undergoing surgery.

Curiously, the 21-year-old did not reveal the nature of the injury, although it was clear that it was a serious issue as Fabrizio Romano had reported that the defender would miss the Euros.

Destiny Udogie may need two months to recover

It was eventually confirmed by the club a couple of days ago that Udogie had suffered an injury on his left quadricep and that the Spurs star is expected to be back in time for pre-season.

When asked about the Italian’s injury, Dr Brar has now told Tottenham News: “My take is there may have been some initial confusion about wanting to reveal the injury or not but clearly that was then communicated by the club. The official statement did not mention it but then it was revealed it’s a left quadriceps injury.

“The quadriceps are the muscles on the front of your leg, involved heavily in running and kicking. The good news is he has the off-season now to recover and return after a couple of months. It perhaps reached a stage where he couldn’t push himself until the end of the season.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It must be heartbreaking for Udogie to miss the chance to represent Italy on the big stage this summer. However, this extended break would give the 21-year-old the time he needs to take stock of his progress over the last 12 months and come back physically and mentally refreshed for pre-season.
