Alan Hutton has said that he cannot see Giovani Lo Celso staying at Tottenham beyond this summer as the midfielder would be desperate for some continuity in his career as he approaches his peak years.
Lo Celso is set to enter the final year of his contract at Spurs and it has been widely reported over recent weeks that the midfielder’s five-year spell at Tottenham is expected to come to an end this summer.
This includes an update by Estadio Deportivo last week, which suggested that the Argentine is keen to leave in search of regular game time and wants to return to his former club Real Betis, who are plotting a move to re-sign him.
However, a couple of days ago, TuttoMercatoWeb asserted that Tottenham are expected to block the 27-year-old’s exit from the club this summer.
It was explained that even though Ange Postecoglou has used him sparingly this season, the Australian valued the midfielder as a squad player.
The publication asserted that Spurs are planning to offer a two-year extension to Lo Celso and propose an improved salary to convince him to remain at the club.

However, Hutton insisted that the Argentina international would be keen to get his career back on track away from Tottenham.
When asked about the speculation over Lo Celso’s future, the former Spurs right-back has told Football Insider: “It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster for Lo Celso. He’s in and then out of the squad, then out on loan.
“Personally, I couldn’t deal with that. “I’d want to go somewhere where I know that if I play to my level, I will be in the team. I don’t see that for Lo Celso at this moment in time if I’m totally honest.
“If Ange wants to reinvest and get other players in the door that he feels can take Spurs to the next level, then players like Lo Celso will probably be moved on. I can see the fringe players at Tottenham like Lo Celso leaving this summer so Ange can invest in the squad.”

I would be surprised if Lo Celso decided to stay at Tottenham and I do not think Postecoglou would try hard to convince the 27-year-old to stay this summer. I expect Spurs to sign another attacking midfielder to cover for James Maddison.
