Football Insider claim that Everton have already started looking for a replacement for rumoured Tottenham target Jarrad Branthwaite, which suggests the Toffees expect the centre-back to depart this summer.

Branthwaite has been a revelation at Goodison Park this season and the centre-back is thought to have aroused the interest of multiple sides across the Premier League and around Europe.

The player can allegedly count Ange Postecoglou as a fan, with TEAMtalk revealing last week that the Tottenham head coach had urged the Spurs hierarchy to bring the Toffees academy graduate to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

The report added that Man Utd and Bayern Munich were also keeping tabs on the centre-back’s situation ahead of the transfer window.

Everton are planning for life after Branthwaite

Football Insider now point out that Everton have made peace with sacrificing Branthwaite as they need to raise funds to ensure they do not fall foul of PSR for the second year running.

The Merseyesiders allegedly owe third-party creditors over £550m and are planning to sell the young defender for a big amount. It is alleged that Sean Dyche’s men have already started looking for a low-cost replacement for the England international.

Finally, the publication backs up what we have already heard from other sources by stating that Man Utd are hopeful of landing Branthwaite for a fee of around £60m-£70m.

Spurs Web Opinion

It does seem like Branthwaite is bound for Old Trafford rather than the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as United need a marquee addition at the back while Postecoglou’s men are only on the lookout for additional cover at centre-back.
