The season is drawing to a close, which means Tottenham Hotspur players out on loan right now don’t have long left to impress at their temporary clubs before returning to North London (or not, as the case may be). Here’s a roundup of how all the loanees have fared this week.

The Tottenham squad is a large one, and Ange Postecoglou could not utilise every player even if he wanted to. So, of course, a number of players have left the club this season to ply their trade elsewhere, and try to increase their stock.

Some are younger players hoping to gain first-team experience with the hope of forging a successful career with Spurs, while other players are simply hoping to attract interest to secure a move away from Tottenham.

Tottenham loanee roundup

Here’s the latest progress report on all 14 players out on loan from Tottenham over the last week.

Tanguy Ndombele: It has been yet another wasted season for a player whose career continues to decline. Ndombele watched on from the bench as Galatasary secured a 3-0 win that pushes them closer to the Super Lig title, but the Frenchman can barely claim to deserve a medal after racking up just 454 minutes of action all season.

Djed Spence: The young wing-back got another 25 minutes under his belt at the weekend, coming on as a substitute for Genoa in a 3-0 win over Cagliari. It was an eventful cameo, too, with Spence getting 21 touches of the ball, making a successful dribble, two tackles, a key block, and registering an 81% pass completion rate. That’s 12 appearances for Spence now in Italy, with roughly 600 minutes to his name.

Sergio Reguilon: The Spaniard continues to impress at Brentford and will be enhancing his chances of securing a permanent transfer away from Spurs this summer. He tasted defeat for the first time since the middle of March at the weekend, though, playing 77 minutes in the loss against Everton. He made two key passes, two dribbles, three tackles, and blocked two shots, but also picked up a yellow card.

Japhet Tanganga: It’s now three clean sheets in four matches for Tanganga and Millwall, as they beat Plymouth Argyle 1-0 at the weekend to continue their push away from the relegation zone. In that game, Tanganga registered one interception and three clearances, and also won four aerial duels.

Joe Rodon: Leeds United look to have blown their automatic promotion hopes after a catastrophic run of form of late. Rodon was on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat against QPR on Friday night, and was labelled as “shaky” in the match report from Leeds Live.

Troy Parrott: After receiving a red card for his alleged involvement in a post-match fracas against Volendam, Parrott had to serve a one-match suspension. He will be back in action for Excelsior Rotterdam next Monday and will be looking to add to his tally of eight goals and four assists.

Ashley Phillips: Played 84 minutes for Plymouth this weekend, but had to be replaced late on due to cramp. Plymouth then conceded a couple of minutes after he was taken off and will continue to look over their shoulders at the relegation zone. Phillips was described as having a “solid game” by Plymouth Live.

Alfie Devine: There were far less minutes on offer for Devine this weekend, as he came on as an 86th-minute substitute for Plymouth, who were chasing the game by that point. He’s played 48 minutes in the last two games, after being suspended for one game and sitting on the bench for two games.

Alejo Veliz: The loan move to Sevilla has clearly been a big mistake for Veliz and Tottenham will probably wish they just kept hold of him, with the Argentine playing just 23 minutes for the Spanish side since January. He was an unused substitute in the last two games for Sevilla.

Matthew Craig: It’s been an incredible time for Craig at Doncaster Rovers, who won nine matches in a row before drawing 2-2 against Gillingham on Saturday. That was enough to earn Rovers a play-off spot. Craig played 82 minutes at the weekend and was described as “tidy once again with the ball” by Doncaster Free Press.

Josh Keeley: Unfortunately, Keeley’s time at Barnet came to a disappointing end on Saturday, as they lost the play-off semi-final against Solihull Motors 4-0 to end their promotion hopes. Keeley has been very impressive there, though, registering three clean sheets in 18 appearances.

Sam Archer: Young goalkeeper, Archer, spent a brief spell with Southern League Central Division One side, Barton Rovers. The 17-year-old’s first taste of first-team football was a successful one, bagging lots of clean sheets as part of a work experience loan.

Eric Dier: Though he looks almost certain to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, Eric Dier is technically still a Lilywhite player, for now. He continued his surprisingly successful spell with Bayern Munich with another 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final first leg. He’s now played 1383 minutes for Bayern across 17 appearances, and it would be a shock if the German side didn’t sign him permanently in the summer.

Ivan Perisic: The Croatian is in a similar position to Dier, where his loan spell with Hajduk Split will take him to the end of his Spurs contract, before he inevitably joins his boyhood club permanently. He’s now recovered from his ACL injury and is playing again, clocking up around 300 minutes.
