Chris Sutton reveals area ‘versatile’ Tottenham must improve in Everton score prediction

Chris Sutton has made his score prediction for Tottenham Hotspur’s first-ever visit to play Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and he believes the teams’ struggles in one area could cause them problems.

Sunday will see Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action, and Everton are their hosts. The Toffees are yet to be defeated at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in a competitive fixture, so Thomas Frank will require a special performance from his team.

Spurs have been much better away from home, picking up 10 points from four matches, which is a good sign heading into this weekend.

However, Tottenham have not looked too convincing in attack recently, and it was only thanks to Guglielmo Vicario that a defeat was not suffered to Monaco in the Champions League.

Chris Sutton’s score prediction for Everton vs Tottenham

Chris Sutton has made his Premier League weekend predictions on BBC Sport, and he is concerned about Spurs in the forward areas.

He also has issues with Everton due to their lack of quality up front. Jack Grealish has been exceptional since arriving from Manchester City, but there is a real problem in the centre-forward position.

Sutton said: “Tottenham have become a more versatile side under Thomas Frank, able to set up to suit the opposition, but I don’t feel as if they are ever clinical enough in the final third.

“It is a similar story with Everton. I always feel they have a goal in them, just not from the centre-forward, whether it is Beto or Thierno Barry leading their attack.

“It must be frustrating for Toffees manager David Moyes, but being realistic, who can they attract, or afford, who would make a difference up front?

“All of that makes me think this is going to be a tight game, and I don’t think there will be a winner.”

Spurs need to find their creative spark

Despite Sutton’s comments about Tottenham not being clinical enough in the final third, Spurs actually have the best goal conversion rate in the Premier League.

However, there is clearly a big problem with chance creation and this could be problematic against an Everton team who are competent in defence.

If Tottenham are to come away from Merseyside with all three points, more inventive play is required.
