Thomas Frank gives honest review of Randal Kolo Muani’s full Tottenham debut
Thomas Frank has revealed what he liked about Randal Kolo Muani’s performance for Tottenham Hotspur against Everton.
Kolo Muani arrived on loan at Spurs on transfer deadline day, and it has taken nearly two months for him to make his first start for the Lilywhites.
The Frenchman has finally put his injury issues behind him, and he led the line for Spurs at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, getting the nod over both Mathys Tel and Richarlison.
The 26-year-old was feeding on scraps for most of the game in what was a very cagey affair, but he was a willing runner for 61 minutes before being replaced by Richarlison.

The on-loan PSG man did not get many clear-cut chances, and it was a tough first assignment, being up against two physical centre-halves in Michael Kean and James Tarkowski.
Frank has admitted that he was pleased with what he saw from Kolo Mauni in terms of his movement off the ball and pointed out that the striker is still working his way up to full fitness.
When asked about Kolo Muani’s performance against Everton, the Tottenham boss said (via the club’s official website): “It was pleasing to see his first 60 minutes. He’s still building his physicality and sharpness. I’m pleased with what I saw, but it’s the first steps, so there’s more to come.
“I think at times I like some of the movement, the interactions with the front four, but that is an ongoing project or process.”
Frank was impressed with another Spurs summer signing
Xavi Simons has come under a lot of criticism over recent weeks after struggling to impact the game in the number ten role.
He was shifted back to a left-wing role at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Mohammed Kudus playing through the middle, and Frank was impressed with what he saw from the Dutchman.
The Tottenham boss said about Xavi: “I like Xavi. I think he found some good positions. Maybe the final top actions are still missing, but I think still, there were good actions. He just needs to keep going, keep building and keep working on it.”
