Xavi Simons makes confident statement on Tottenham penalties that proves he has a top mentality
Tottenham’s Xavi Simons has now revealed what he told Cristian Romero against Slavia Prague before he took Spurs’ second spot kick on the night.
Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways in the Champions League on Tuesday when they welcomed Czech side Slavia Prague to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It was a packed ground as many Tottenham fans were in their seats early as they came to bid farewell to former club captain Heung-min Son for one last time.
Spurs needed to secure a victory to close the gap on the top eight places in the Champions League, and they did just that, securing a 3-0 win following an own goal and penalty goals from Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons.

One thing learned from the Spurs clash with Slavia was that Kudus is currently on penalty duty for Tottenham, as he took the first spot kick despite Richarlison being on the field.
Simons was then handed the second of the night, which he slotted in cleanly, making it two goals in his last two games for Tottenham.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, the Dutchman was asked about his performance, and he explained how much the win meant to him and how he is embracing Champions League football.
The midfielder said, “Really happy to win another game at home with the fans. We have to continue, really happy. It is always a pleasure for me playing Champions League, I am enjoying my dreams.
“Really happy to be here. It is a team that play man-to-man and you have to look for space and create chances. First half we had those chances but did not score, luckily we had two goals in the second half.”

On penalties, he added, “I wanted to take the first one, but Mo came over, I really wanted to shoot the second one so happy he [Cristian Romero] gave it to me.”
And when asked about finding consistency moving forward, Simons said: “That is what we are trying to do. Two games, two wins. The weekend will be a tough game at Forest, we hope we can continue this run.”
