A MUM has revealed how she did the impossible of removing wax stains from her carpet without leaving any stains behind.
Whether we’ve left a candle burning for too long or decided our legs were getting a bit fuzzy, most of us have spilled some form of wax on the carpet before.
It’s notoriously difficult to remove, and is usually solved by putting a rug or piece of furniture on the stain.
But one woman has revealed how she managed to get her carpet looking good as new, after spilling sticky wax for hair removal all over it.
Posting on Facebook, the woman shared a photo of a pot of wax, and a large green puddle on the carpet next to it.
And while she mentioned that she normally puts a shower curtain down before waxing, the mum admitted she didn’t have the space this time.
Turning to Facebook group Hinch Army Cleaning Tips for advice over how to rescue her rug, her post said: “I’m hoping someone can help me please.
“This is warm wax on long pile shaggy carpet. Is there any way to take it off.
“BTW it’s the gloopy sticky stuff.”
The prognosis didn’t look good, with multiple people telling her the carpet was ruined.
One person said: “New carpet that’s beyond help.”
Another wrote: “Buy a new rug,” and agreeing, this person added: “New rug I think.”
Someone else said it was “definitely ruined”, while this person suggested: “If all else fails, could you put a piece of furniture over it?”
But the mum shocked everyone when she later posted a photo of the rug looking good as new.
People immediately demanded to know her secret, and she revealed all she used was a hairdryer, wooden spatulas and baby wipes.
She said: “The method I used was a hairdryer!
“Then scraping it off with the wooden spatulas and baby wipes.
“Then spray with wax equipment cleaner.”
Women are amazed at her simple, yet effective, method, with one person saying: “Omg wow amazing result!
“Not gonna lie – I thought your carpet was done for.”
Another said: “Wow that’s amazing you got it all off.”
And a third commented: “Amazing well done.”
