A CONFESSION viewers switched off in their droves tonight over the ITV drama’s ‘shaky’ camerawork.
True crime fans were distracted by the “continuous zooms” in the new six-part series about serial killer Christopher Halliwell and were left feeling seasick by the constantly moving picture.
Viewers rushed to Twitter to share their frustration at the way the star-studded drama was shot.
“Anyone know why the camera man filmed #AConfession on a unicycle?” one viewer tweeted.
“OMG the camera work in this show is horrendous – I’ve had a steadier hand in year 9 media studies Jesus Christ it’s so off putting,” another added.
“Tried to watch #AConfession for the past half an hour due to the interesting plot and the great cast, but that shaky cam and continuous zooms. I can’t take it anymore,” a third wrote.
The events depicted in A Confession are based on real events.
When Sian O’Callaghan went missing in March 2011, CCTV evidence quickly led police to taxi driver Christopher Halliwell.
They arrested him on suspicion of kidnap, with Detective Fulcher believing Sian may still be alive — and that Halliwell was their only hope of finding her.
With this in mind, Fulcher made the decision to interrogate him not at the station, but in an isolated countryside spot without a solicitor present.
Halliwell confessed to murder and led him not just to Sian’s body, but to that of Becky Godden-Edwards, reported missing four years earlier.
The series has an A-list star line-up.
The show is headed up by The Hobbit and Sherlock star Martin Freeman who plays Detective Fulcher.
To add to this we have fellow movie star Imelda Staunton, who is soon to be seen in the new Downton Abbey, playing Karen Edwards who daughter Becky Godden-Edwards is missing.
Next up we have drama veteran Siobhan Finneran who plays Sian O’Callaghan’s mum.
Making up the star line-up is former EastEnders star and Doc Martin actor Joe Absolom who plays murderer Christopher Halliwell.
The series is based on true crime
