IT’S the most important outfit you’ll ever wear – so it’s only natural that some brides are a bit picky about their wedding dress and hair.
However, one bride has actually threatened to CANCEL her wedding after her groom picked a dress and hairstyle she didn’t approve of.
Appearing on the most recent episode of Don’t Tell the Bride, Rosie, 21, from Crawley, West Sussex, always imagined herself getting married in an elegant long-sleeved gown like Kate Middleton.
But not only does Rosie have royal taste in gowns, the bride is also described as a “princess” by her mates and husband-to-be Nick, 29.
Since meeting a year ago, the couple – who moved in after four months – have honoured “flower Friday” where Nick surprises his wife-to-be with a fresh bouquet every week.
As well as taking fashion inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge, the bride also wanted to have a “fairytale” wedding in the Sussex castle her late father used to take her and her sister Jess when they were children.
Rosie wanted an elegant lace long-sleeved dress[/caption]Describing her perfect wedding at the beginning of the show, Rosie says she wants a “classy and traditional” wedding and hates nothing more than a theme.
But in an attempt to make Rosie have her first happy Christmas since losing her dad when she was 13, Nick settles on a festive theme for his bride.
The groom is given a budget of £12,000 and three weeks to plan their dream day.
After venturing all the way up to the Scottish highlights to find the winter wonderland venue he had in mind, Nick instead settles on the ice rink at Brighton pavilion.
Nick chose the ice rink at Brighton pavilion for their winter wedding[/caption]Although the venue owner fear Rosie might fall over on the ice as she’s walking down the aisle (which Nick plans to create with a carpet), the groom decides to power through – and spends over half of their budget on the venue.
He joked: “Rosie can get a £20 dress and ice skate down the aisle which she can’t do.”
But after forgetting all about flower Friday and only booking a local bar for her hen do, Nick is NOT in Rosie’s good books when she arrives for her first dress fitting.
Unaware that Rosie specifically told her bridesmaids that she hated strapless, diamante gowns, Nick picked this exact style for his bride.
She especially hated the burgundy ribbon at the back[/caption] The white kitten heels were too much for Rosie and she insisted on wearing her own[/caption]Before she arrives at the fitting, Rosie said: “I will refuse to walk down the aisle if that dress is not right. I won’t do it.”
And when she sets eyes on her “ugly” form-sitting gown for the first time, Rosie immediately burst into tears.
And it only gets worse when the bride sees the burgundy ribbon on the back which she has to wear with a tiara, furry “dead cat” shawl and white kitten heels.
She said: “I want to punch him so hard in the face. I hate him at the minute. I don’t even want to marry him.”
The bride had a tantrum when she heard Nick’s plans for her hair[/caption] The bride locked herself outside[/caption] Rosie only came back inside when the bridesmaids said they would do her hair[/caption]With only £56 left of their wedding budget, Rosie has to make her peace with the dress – but insists on wearing her own high heels.
But just when she’d gotten over the shock of the dress, Rosie throws a full-on tantrum when the hair stylist said she was going to curl her locks on the morning of the wedding.
The hair stylist explained: “What he wants you to have is your hair extensions put in, some frills and a side parting with plenty of volume.”
While Rosie has locked herself in the bathroom, a bridesmaid explained how she “doesn’t want curls” but preferred her normal long blonde extensions with flicks at the end.
Nick made an aisle on the ice rink out of carpet[/caption] Luckily for Nick, Rosie said their wedding was ‘amazing’[/caption]The bride then rushes outside to her car and threatens to leave before her bridesmaid calm her down.
Now running two hours behind schedule, the bridesmaids tell the hair and make-up artists Nick has hired to leave before taking matters into their own hands.
Luckily for Nick, Rosie was delighted with the venue and walked down the aisle with her long blonde hair styled to perfection and with her outfit tweaked accordingly.
She gushed: “I’m really proud of you. I love it. And if I didn’t like it, you know I’d tell you. It’s amazing.”
