SHE was known for having one of the most expressive faces on the box over the past two months as a coach on The Voice.
And now Anne-Marie says she could never get Botox like most other stars on telly, because losing her hilarious facial expressions would be a dead giveaway.
Anne Marie has been a judge on The Voice for the past two months[/caption] She is known for having one of the most expressive faces on TV[/caption]In an exclusive chat before tonight’s grand final, she said with a laugh: “I knew my facial expressions were quite intense but I didn’t know they were that extreme. It’s a lot, isn’t it?
“I’d like to apologise to people for that. But it’s a good way to be, I think — or not, because I can’t hide how I’m feeling.
“You have to take me as I come, because there’s no other way of dealing with me.”
And when I suggested it meant that now she can’t have Botox, she replied:
Anne-Marie joined The Voice’s panel in January to replace Meghan Trainor[/caption] The singer says she gained a stone in the first lockdown[/caption]“Yeah, f***. I might have to stop doing it so that nobody notices after a while.”
The Alarm singer joined The Voice’s panel in January to replace Meghan Trainor, who had just given birth, and threw herself into the job head first after Covid forced her to put tour plans on hold.
She said: “It’s been a blessing in disguise. I don’t think I realised how much this would be helping my mental health by doing this show. It’s been mad.
“It’s been perfect for what we’re going through at the moment. I’ve been lucky enough to actually be around live music, unlike everyone else.”
Anne-Marie sits alongside Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs and Will.I.Am on The Voice panel[/caption]And it has saved Anne-Marie from stacking on the pounds too, after gaining a stone in the first lockdown.
The refreshingly honest star recently hired a personal trainer to help her get back in shape, but insisted it wasn’t due to the prospect of being on national TV.
She said: “I think I’m quite well known for my double chin so I feel comfortable with people seeing it. But I think when it comes to feeling happy and actually having energy to be able to film for long periods of time, that’s what it comes down to.
“I think it was weirdly easier to stay in shape when I was on tour because we were performing on stage and there was always a gym in the hotels.
‘I feel happier’
Since being in lockdown I put on a stone just eating crap. I did lose a bit of weight and then I was like, ‘This is all good but I actually need to feel strong’, so I started doing the PT sessions and the lady that I’m doing it with is so fit.
“I feel so much better, honestly. It is annoying and a cliche but as soon as I start eating well and working out, I actually feel happier.”
Getting out of the house to work has helped to lift her spirits too — not least because she gets to sit alongside Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs and Will.I.Am.
She has formed a special bond with Welsh icon Tom and has been helping to update his wardrobe.
Anne-Marie has formed a special bond with Welsh icon Tom Jones[/caption]She said: “I love him so much. I actually bought him a pair of sliders for Christmas because he kept complimenting mine and now he wears them all the time. I’m claiming that we’re like best friends.
“They’re furry, they’ve got a platform on them and he says he loves them because they make him look taller. They’re green with a tartan pattern.”
Tonight’s Voice final, which starts on ITV at 8.30pm, will see Anne- Marie sing a group number with the coaches, plus a duet with her finalist, Craig Eddie — which has scared her after so long off stage in lockdown.
She said: “I’ve been jealous of everyone singing and couldn’t wait to get up there, and now it’s actually happening I’m like, ‘Maybe I should just leave it to them’. But no, it’s going well.
Anne-Marie will sing a group number with the other coaches on tonight’s final[/caption]“I have to try and sing as well as the contestants. I don’t know how they do it. They have to learn a different song every time and it’s so hard.”
If she is the winning coach, Anne-Marie will stop Olly pulling off a hat-trick of victories.
He has already promised to “do something crazy” if he wins, having stripped off last year.
Asked if she too would strip if she wins, Anne-Marie said: “I might dye my hair a different colour, how about that? That’s a little gift for people.”
I’ll keep my fingers crossed that she returns to the spinning red chair next year, without social distancing, for a more raucous celebration.
Rita’s got the white idea
TELLY bosses are always saying it’ll be alright on the night, but for Rita Ora it was all-white when she did a live link to the US from Australia.
The singer performed her new song Bang on The Ellen DeGeneres Show from the Sydney State Theatre.
Rita, who looked angelic in a white dress with mesh ruffles, posed for pictures before she took to the stage.
She shared this photo on Instagram and said: “Love you Ellen thank you so much for having me on and letting us perform this special version for you.”
Since she landed Down Under, Rita’s feet have barely touched the ground.
Along with filming for The Voice Australia where she is a coach, Rita has been doing the rounds of local TV and radio stations promoting Bang and even performed at Sydney’s annual Mardi Gras.
I imagine the Aussie sunshine has made it all feel like a holiday, though.
Nathan puts his stamp on No. 1
TWO months ago, the only No1s Nathan Evans saw were on the first-class stamps stuck to the letters that he put through people’s doors.
Now the postman has hit the top spot with his Wellerman remix with 220 Kid and Billen Ted.
In an exclusive interview, sea-shanty sensation Nathan said: “It is a dream come true. Can’t believe we actually made it.
“Nine weeks ago I was still a postman and now my life has changed. It’s like I’m living a dream. I’m speechless.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me this far. I can’t wait to see what is to come in the future.”
Nathan quit his job after he became an overnight sensation singing shanties on TikTok.
He is now preparing to go on a UK and European tour and is eyeing up a collaboration with Queen legend Brian May – who publicly asked Nathan if he wanted to join forces.
Nathan, from Airdrie, North Lanarks, added: “I saw Brian reached out on social media after we appeared on Saturday Night Takeaway and I would love to see if we could make something happen in the future.
“I never expected any of this.
“And if you had told ten-year-old me he would be on TV with ANT and DEC, he wouldn’t have believed you.”
Bugg eyes chart return
THE wait is almost over for a new album from Jake Bugg – four years after his last record.
Saturday Night, Sunday Morning will be released on August 20, following on from single All I Need.
Jake will play a 17-date run of shows across the UK[/caption]And it won’t be long before fans can see him live, with a tour in early 2022.
Jake will play a 17-date run of shows across the UK and Ireland, kicking off at the O2 City Hall in Newcastle on March 14, 2022, with tickets on sale this Friday.
Grime’s up for Skepta
SKEPTA has enjoyed a good run in music with three top ten albums and a Mercury Prize win.
But one of the biggest names in grime looks to be turning his back on the microphone after 15 years in the business.
Skepta looks to be turning his back on the microphone after 15 years in the business[/caption]Skepta appears on producer JAE5’s new song Dimension and yesterday he dropped the bombshell that it will be one of his final tracks.
He wrote on Instagram: “This Jae5 song/video featuring REMA and myself was recorded and shot last year in Ghana. I have one more song with Bando & L’s that we also recorded in 2020 – after we drop that I’m out . . .”
In another post he added: “Any verses of mine you hear this year were all recorded last year.
“I’ve stopped recording 2021.”
The rapper – who has previously dated Adele and Naomi Campbell – is now expected to focus on other projects, having launched his clothing line Mains back in 2017 and made his acting debut in movie Anti-Social, alongside Meghan Markle, in 2015.
More recently he has also teamed up with Nike for his own SK trainers, following in the footsteps of fellow rapper Kanye West who has made a fortune with his Yeezy brand, which he works on with Adidas.
Just this week, Kanye was revealed to be worth an eye-watering £4.7billion, partly thanks to Yeezy, making him the wealthiest black man in American history.

With figures like that to his name, I wouldn’t blame Skepta for sacking off music and going down the clothing route too.
Mind you, plenty of artists in the past have said they’re quitting and then come crawling back as soon as they get bored.
I’ll give him two years.
